Rating Timer Jobs feature in Sharepoint 2010

Rating has been introduced in shareoint 2010. Users can rate on lists, publishing pages and etc.,

The following two timer jobs calculate the rating.

• User Profile Service Application - Social Data Maintenance Job
• User Profile Service Application - Social Rating Synchronization Job

These two jobs scheduled to run hourly. In a class room demo after rate the item, run the two jobs one after the other, the rating will update against the item.

HP Envy 17 - 1090ca

I would like to share about my new laptop (HP Envy), the performance is awesome. After thinking a lot I opted for Envy17.

The laptop configuration is as follows.

Processor -Core i7-720QMD

HDD-1TB

RAM-8GB

So far I have seen only one problem.... which is very obvious with HP , i.e none other than HEATING.

Enhancements in Sharepoint 2010

Today I would like to describe a few enhancements in Sharepoint 2010.

• LINQ to sharepoint provider - New support for writing LINQ Query statemetns to access sharepoint list data
• Client side Object Model - Ability to use the sharepoint object model from across the network when programming with .Net,Silver Light and Javascript.
• Claims based security - New authentication support for using external identity management.
• New events for sites, lists and workflows - Additional events for developers to hook up event handlers.
• Sandboxed solutions - New support for deploying solution packages at site collection scope in sandboxed environment.
• Sharepoint developer Tools for Visual Studio 2010 - Finally a first class development tools/templates for sharepoint developers.
• Rating - New feature added, users can rate on List Items, documents and publishing pages.
